SEO isn't an exact science

SEO isn’t an exact science. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t given us a comprehensive list of ranking factors. Considering that Google has around 200 major ranking factors, and as many as 10,000 sub-signals, we can’t possibly know every single aspect of their algorithm. Create profiles for your business (and include a link to your website) on major directory sites such as Google My Business, Yelp, Angie’s List, Yellow Pages, and other listing resources associated with your industry. Inbound links can come from your own website (linking from one page to another) or other web properties you control. Use relevant and accurate meta descriptions, title tags and alt text throughout your site. If you want your content to stand out from the glut of online content and attract the kind of shares and links that boost search rankings, you’ve got to create epic content or "10X Content”. Most of the content that ranks in the top 10 of Google is over 2000 words in length, so you need to create long-form content.

Offer tips that apply to specific geographic or demographic audiences

"Dwell time” is the amount of time visitors spend on your website and it can affect SEO ranking. When you provide useful content, visitors tend to stay longer on your website to consume the information and therefore increase the dwell time. Google started penalizing mobile unfriendly sites in 2015. And they’re likely crack down even more in the future. If you want to make your site mobile-friendly, I recommend Responsive Design. Internal linking is one of the few methods we can use to tell Google (and visitors) that a particular page of content is important. So how should you go about linking internally to other pages of your website?2 As a general rule of thumb the more words in the query the easier it is to rank for that phrase. This is certainly not an absolute but has been the case for a majority of the terms I have worked with. *If you know of examples where this theory does not hold up, please share in the comments. The initial purpose of search engines counting the quantity and qualityof links linking back to any webpage was to ensure that only those pagesproviding valuable and trustworthy content to their users would be rankedhigher than less credible resources in search results pages.

What is with this hue & cry about backlinks?

It is essential that you create unique and valuable content that is a worthwhile read for users. Whatever your industry may be, tailor your content according to the needs of your audience. Google has guidelines that regulate the use of keywords and regularly updates its algorithms to regulate the industry. The truth is that working on the search optimisation for your website is not a guaranteed source of traffic. Why do you need a Freelance SEO Consultant SEO-ing your web content is a great way to generate easy traffic. That being said, you won’t get traffic instantly by writing a few blog posts. The days of buying, selling, and trading links for rankings is long gone…and if you try to bring it back, you will be long gone as well.

Optimize for people

Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant from SEO Hull, commented: "If you’re not able to rank on the first page, try to write another article, focused on a (even) more long tail keyword. Make it a little bit more specific, more niche. And see how that goes." By limiting your SEO efforts to Google, you might be missing out on some great opportunities for small business growth. There are other things that you can do to get contextual links, such as guest bloggingand mentioning other sites in your content (and letting them know about it). Standard results, however, are certainly not all that the search engines have to offer. For many types of queries, search engines show vertical results, or instant answers, and include more than just links to other sites to help answer a user’s questions In order to please both the search engines (who will reward you with high rankings over time) and potential customers and return visitors, you need to offer value above and beyond search engine optimization.

Include internal and external links

Search engines aren't good at completing online forms (such as a login), and thus any content contained behind them may remain hidden. Everyone is familiar with the expression "content is king.” Without rich content, you willfind it difficult to achieve good rankings with specific keywords and to direct traffic to yourwebsite. Guest articles are a good wayof improving your brandingand getting high-qualitybacklinks. This area of offpageoptimization has moreto do with editing and PR. Soyou should look for publicationchannels that would be a goodfit for you to write guest posts. In the world of SEO, there is speculation that Google’s indexer will only give a certain document credit for having a given word in its title if that word appears in the first 12 words of the title tag. Prioritize keywords and phrases, plurals, singulars and misspellings.

No-follow all backlinks

The total number of backlinks can often include many links from the same referring domain or multiple referring domains. It’s common for referring domains to link back to your content if it is relevant, authoritative or useful in some way to their own domain. If you're trying to get links from colleges, create content targeted at them that you can use during outreach. Trust me, there's usually something you know that you could write an entire tutorial on that would interest college webmasters. Spend some time looking at other websites within your niche, sites that perhaps are not performing well enough to claim the top spots in Google, and ask yourself - what are they missing? Why are these sites not ranking in search engines? A lot of people and businesses will pour money into a professional website only to find out that visitors won’t magically begin appearing on their site. It can take months to see a real impact from SEO,and if your site is fairly new (ie. you just launchedand have little to no content), it will take even longerto see noticeable results.
